BYD, the world’s leading manufacturer of new energy vehicles (NEVs) and power batteries, achieved a new highlight as its dedicated roll-on/roll-off (ro-ro) carrier, the EXPLORER NO.1, docked for the first time in the Americas at Brazil’s Port of Suape. Previously delivered in January at Yantai Port, China, the arrival of the EXPLORER NO.1 fortifies its commitment to eco-friendly logistics on a global scale.

The state-of-the-art EXPLORER NO.1, equipped with cutting-edge navigation technology, made its second voyage a transcontinental journey of 27 days from China to Brazil. Measuring an impressive 199.9 meters in length, the EXPLORER NO.1 has the capability to carry up to 7,000 vehicles, further enhancing BYD's ability to meet international demand.
Tyler Li, President of BYD Brazil, emphasized the company’s dedication to green solutions, stating, “We believe it’s possible to maintain sustainability and technology in all our green mobility solutions, and we are increasingly committed to contributing to strengthening ecological and intelligent international logistics. Brazil is undoubtedly one of our biggest bets, in every sense.”
This historic docking saw the largest car shipment ever received by Suape Port, bringing 5,459 vehicles to cater to the burgeoning domestic demand for BYD’s new energy vehicle models. Reflecting Brazilians’ enthusiasm for clean energy vehicles, BYD has already recorded over 25,500 registrations in just the first five months of the year, marking a remarkable 43% increase compared to all of 2023’s 17,900 registrations.
