BYD Microelectronics, a subsidiary of BYD Company Ltd., is dedicated to the development of integrated circuits and power devices since 2003.Based on strong background of BYD Company Ltd. and the abundant engineering resources of China, combining with the worldwide expertise from the partners, BYD Microelectronics has successfully developed a wide range of IC products such as power management ICs, power MOSFET, IGBT, FRD, IPEM, IPM, TVS, current sensors, CMOS image sensors, ambient light sensor & proximity sensors, touch controllers, touch pad modules and pure sound ICs for ambient noise suppression. Many of the ICs have already been qualified and been used in large quantity by world class-one customers like Nokia and Samsung.

Overview

Since 2005, BYD has established the R&D center for current sensors. At present, our products include 24 series, and their input measuring range can be from 3A to 2000A. According to different level of product application, we have developed special current sensors for electric welding machine, inverter, power supply and electric vehicles respectively. All the time, we provide our clients with assuring product quality as well as expert design solution for product applications. What’s more, BYD applies AUTO-class manufacturing process to manufacture products with not only great anti-interference ability, high linearity and excellent precision, but also near-perfect protection functions of transient current suppression and power supply reversion. As for the application fields, our products can be widely used in electric vehicles, electric welding machines, inverters, UPS, trams, solar/wind energy power plants, inverters and power equipments. Compared with other sensor companies, we have our special advantages. BYD’s four R&D institutes, which include central research institute, all provide strong technical support to our current sensor product series. Besides, our company has powerful technical development center and authoritative laboratory for products reliability, which make the products traceable in every manufacturing step, and attach another ‘safety lock’ to the quality of products.

Open Loop Hall Effect

The magnetic flux created by the primary current IP is concentrated in a magnetic circuit and measured in the air gap using a Hall device. The output from the Hall device is then signal conditioned to provide an exact representation of the primary current at the output.

Closed Loop Hall Effect

The magnetic flux created by the primary current loop is balanced by a complementary flux produced by driving a current through the secondary windings. A hall device and associated electronic circuit are used to generate the secondary (compensating) current that is an exact representation of the primary current.
